Trucks and Heavy Machinery Make Their Mark on Big Boys Toys 2014

Mercy Sakes, the big rigs are coming, with the first truck show in Auckland for 20 years; The Truck and Machinery Show at Big Boys Toys, ASB Showgrounds November 7-9.

With a man-size selection of diesel-powered steel the big names will all be there, including Penske, Western Star, Man, Mack, Volvo, Renault and Intertruck, alongside a showcase of pristine vintage trucks and custom American Pick Ups.

Big Boys Toys Exhibition Director Sandra Beacham says she’s delighted to announce the Truck and Machinery show and believes it will be an exciting new attraction for show visitors this year.

“This is the first Truck and Machinery show in Auckland for a while, and we’ve worked hard to ensure that all the trucks being showcased are awe-inspiring, so real trucking enthusiasts as well as general automotive fans will be enthralled with what’s on display,” she said.

The Truck and Machinery show will feature items from Bill Hohepa’s Vintage Truck show, where 50 unique and rare rigs from across the country are to be showcased.  Owners will be on hand to speak to show visitors throughout Big Boys Toys, to answer information and interesting facts about the history of each truck. 

The event will be filmed as part of Hohepa’s own local TV show, The Low Gear Show, a TV series that looks at vintage and classic trucks around New Zealand.
The USA Haulers Club joins the line-up up of ‘must-sees’ at Big Boys Toys, with 30 Classic American Pick Ups on show, including beautifully restored custom Pick-Ups rarely seen in New Zealand.

The Truck and Machinery Show will also showcase rarely seen industrial machinery of intricate and surprising design and innovation.

“The Truck and Machinery Show is yet another big reason to join us this year at Big Boys Toys,” said Beacham.

“Big Boys Toys has been growing in strength since its re-boot in 2011 and this year will be the biggest in a decade, with attractions completely filling the ASB Showgrounds venue,” she said.

More announcements of show highlights and top international talent appearing at the event will follow in coming weeks.
