Featuring brilliant dance performances and live music from talented local artists and up and coming youngsters and a colourful fireworks display, it raised an incredible $16,655 for the Wakatipu Youth Trust.

The big community bash saw well over 2,000 people converge on the Queenstown Recreation Ground to take part in the interactive outdoor Christmas concert.

Favourites from previous years such as the Remarkable Men’s Ballet troupe featuring some of Queenstown’s noted business leaders and talented young dancers from Queenstown School of Dance delighted audiences.

Coupled with money raised from the leading tourism giant’s Shotover Jet locals’ day last month (November 15), the grand total was gratefully received by the not-for-profit youth group.

Shotover Jet General Manager Clark Scott said the annual events were a great opportunity to work together with locals and give back to the community.

“The Christmas Cracker was huge amounts of fun and everyone got into the Christmas spirit,” he said. “Even the odd passing shower didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm or enjoyment, and the fireworks at the end were truly spectacular.

“We’re thrilled that so much was raised for such a worthy cause. The Youth Trust is a pivotal local organisation and we’re extremely proud that Shotover Jet can help raise much-needed funding.”

A non-government/non-profit organisation governed by a registered Charitable Trust, the trust’s dedicated youth workers enable young people aged from ten to 24 to achieve positive outcomes in their lives by providing support, advocacy and a range of programmes.”
