Almost 2,300 people took part in the annual Partners Life DUAL event on Rangitoto and Motutapu islands in the Hauraki Gulf on Saturday.

The weather played ball, and Total Sport’s event organiser Nick Carroll says that he’s delighted with how the day went.

“We’ve had the highest participation rate ever today, and hundreds of people stayed on for the after-party at Home Bay,” he says.

The event saw 600 mountain-bikers, 1,600 walkers & runners, 150 triathletes and a handful of professionals, including international trail runner Anna Frost, Silver Ferns Camilla Lees and Laura Langman, and High-Five-0 ‘nutter’ Mal Law, competing in seven different events.

The Partners Life DUAL has today raised over $45,000 for the Motutapu Restoration Trust which undertakes conservation and restoration work on the island.
