Dana Johnston and JP Schmidt are the masters of reinvention and adaptation, and now, they’ve taken these talents back to where it all started, at 46 & York. With a new Head Chef, and updates to their classic ‘Knife & Fork’, the unpretentious, and friendly local ambience and service carries on.

When 46 & York first opened in October 2013, owners Johnston and Schmidt knew they were onto a good thing. They saw an opportunity in Parnell before one existed, and now 46 & York is well established as the favourite watering hole for locals, and vastly attracting those from far and wide every night of the week.

The team here at 46 & York are so pleased that even with their popularity growing at a rapid rate, they can still rely on keeping things simple, yet delectable with organic produce direct from the owner’s Clevedon farm. Head Chef, Dominic Allen-Ray goes on to explain, “What needs to be remembered, is that with our farm to table ethos, we are incredibly lucky to constantly adapt our menu with subtle changes to reflect with seasonality.” The wine list is also updated each time to reflect the change in season, and key to a great menu, is an impeccable wine list to match.

With keeping the 46 & York classics as they are – classic, Allen-Ray wanted to adapt the rest of the menu to reflect on his rustic flavor choices along with fresh additions from the boys’ farm coming up to the summer months. With an entire new PADDOCK, two new additions to OCEAN, with sesame wasabi crusted tuna, and mouth-watering smoked marlin croquettes, and with the GARDEN being updated to reflect the warming months that are fast approaching, 46 & York are onto a great thing.

This current menu was, and is designed for winter, but will evolve, as the warmer months progress and a full new summer menu will drop first week of November.
