Delicious food and fantastic live entertainment are on the menu for the inaugural Napier Night Fiesta on Friday 20 November.

Inspired by some of the feedback to the Napier City Council’s evolving City Vision plan, the three hour long Fiesta will be held once a month. The line-up of vendors for the first Fiesta include Pipi Pizza, Paella a go go, Indigo, Berry Tub Icecream and Design Cuisine.

Craggy Range’s winemaker will be on site to offer tastings of some of the winery’s latest releases. From the December Fiesta further top quality wines, plus craft beer and ciders will be available to purchase.
With a different child friendly activity each time, the Fiesta should appeal to families as well as people looking for something to do after work on a Friday, said Council Planner Fleur Lincoln. The Soundshell was chosen for its superb seaside location and proximity to the city centre.

“When we look at what happens in the city throughout the year, and city spaces, you can see the Soundshell is an under-utilised venue. We think it really does lend itself to being used a lot more for events.”

The Fiesta is one way of making Napier’s centre more lively and encouraging people to use it in a positive way.

City Vision, a work in progress, includes looking at opportunities for creating more vibrancy in the city centre and surrounding areas. The chill-out area Urban Oasis on Market Lane and child friendly Pop N Play on Emerson Street West have both come from City Vision discussions.
