The Invercargill Public Library’s annual Christmas carol sing-along, which showcases their talented staff, is to be performed with new additions this year on Wednesday, December 23, in the Library foyer.

Invercargill Public Library’s Administration and Communications Assistant, Cindy Mulrooney, said The Lyrical Librarians had performed Christmas Carols and songs in the Library foyer for many years, much to the delight of customers; some of whom had been asking for several weeks when the event was to be held.

“We have invited a variety of local performers to support the charity event. We decided to expand our event this year to showcase a small selection of performers, chosen to appeal to all ages.

“We have accomplished accordion players The Melting Moments, teenage violinists Hannah Gray and Devyn Fowles, and polished pianist Jo Cooper joining us.  This is a chance for busy customers to take time out to sit down, relax, enjoy some sweet treats and join in the sing along,” Mrs Mulrooney said.

Donations will be collected to support the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fund.

The timetable is:
  • 11am Joan McIntosh and Lorna Kelly of The Melting Moments play accordion tunes
  • 11.30am Hannah Gray and Devyn Fowles play violins
  • 12pm Jo Cooper plays a selection of piano tunes
  • 12.30pm The Lyrical Librarians & The Ukuladies and Jay perform a selection of Christmas carols and songs
