David Robert Jones aka David Bowie has posthumously gained his 6th NZ #1 album, 5 days since his passing on 10 January, for Blackstar. This is the fastest any act has made the top of the NZ chart after the artist has died. New Zealand is the first country in the world where the album has reached #1 and it is predicted to hit #1 in the UK, US and Australia too.
David Bowie now holds six #1 albums. He now jointly holds the record for the artist with greatest number of charting albums here, tied with Sir Elton John on 35.
