Free training courses to encourage people to share their love of biking, or even just give biking a go, are being offered by Hamilton City Council in conjunction with Cycling New Zealand.

Topics are designed to appeal to a wide range of ages and capabilities and include a Ride Leader Course for people who want to lead groups around Hamilton, an ‘Unlock your love of biking’ course for people new, or returning, to biking and a specific course for people to learn the art of riding in a bunch.

There are also a series of free interactive workshops which teach participants the basics of maintaining bikes - how to change a puncture, change wheels, and ensure their bike and equipment is right for them. There will be an opportunity for people to work with qualified mechanics to answer any equipment questions for any type of biking.

More than 30 course dates are offered in May and June, with multiple date options available for each of the four courses. People can register their interest in one or more of the courses, with venues to be set once numbers are confirmed.

To register for the free courses, or for further information, go to bikehamilton.co.nz, email ride@cyclingnewzealand.nz or phone 07 823 0716.
