Have you got an idea to celebrate your neighbourhood’s identity, improve its safety or simply bring people together for a fun event?

Applications for Napier City Council’s Together Fund, which is administered in partnership with Napier Neighbourhood Support, close at 4pm Friday 2 September.

Groups or organisations can apply for between $100 and $5000. Priority is given to projects that encourage groups of people to get together to work on new projects to improve connectivity within communities and improve the community as a whole. It could be a beautification project, an art installation or events that utilise existing facilities such as parks.

One such community which has benefited from the Together Fund in the past year is Marewa.
A fun event at the Kennedy Park Rose Gardens including children’s activities, music and a sausage sizzle was partly funded by a $500 grant from the Together Fund.

It attracted about 90 locals, and was also an opportunity for them to provide feedback to one of the organisers, Juliet Greig, about her proposal for a toddlers’ playground for the gardens. The idea attracted plenty of positive feedback, which was passed on to Council.

A toddlers’ playground is due to be installed at the gardens this October.
