It is all go at Rasdex Classic River Race Series HQ.  We’ve had a few new developments for this year which we are pretty excited about. The race is being advertised as a Series for the first time with three prologue races to be held between Woodstock and Gorge Bridge on Sunday 16th October, Sunday 6th November and Sunday 20th November.

The main event will be held on Sunday 11th December and is the ideal preparation for those looking to compete in next year’s Coast to Coast – or for those just wanting to paddle through a beautiful piece of high country.

For the fourth year, Rasdex are on board as our naming rights sponsor.  Glenda and Peter from Rasdex enjoy supporting the race and see it as a perfect opportunity to promote kayaking and showcase their Christchurch made products. Check out their website www.rasdex.com to view their entire range and stock up in preparation for this series.

As well as receiving a 5% series entry discount, entrants will go into the draw for two prizes only available to series entrants.  A Rasdex Multisporter PFD valued at $283.50 and a Waimakariri guided river trip with Topsport valued at $379.00.

Thanks to EventPlus we have moved into the 21st century and entries will be done online for the first time.  This will assist to streamline the entry process for competitors and organisers.

The link for entries and the accompanying race information leaflet can be found at www.arawacanoeclub.org.nz/classic-river-race/

If you’ve not already visited and ‘liked’ the race facebook page, don’t procrastinate do it now!  This is where you will hear any new race information first.  Encourage your friends and fellow paddlers to do the same:  www.facebook.com/RasdexClassicRiverRace

As in years past the main event will be followed by prizegiving which is the perfect opportunity to tell a yarn of the day’s adventures.  All paddlers present at the prizegiving qualify for the spot prizes which are well supported by our group of fabulous sponsors.

The novice category continues to be an important way to ‘blood’ newer paddlers to this stretch of river.  For added peace of mind as we have teamed up with SpotNZ and competitors have the option to hire a Spot GPS tracker for all of the series races.  We anticipate demand for this from a range of paddlers.  Online tracking will be available for all your family and friends to follow you and should the need arise competitors can activate their tracker to communicate with the race safety team.   You can even watch your progress back after you finish!

Hire a SpotNZ device during the series and you will go in the draw to win your very own Spot G3 Messenger!

Enter by 25th November to avoid paying a late entry fee. There are no on the day entries so get yourself entered now!

We look forward to seeing you on the start line at each of these races.
