Gut May Hold Key to Our Physical, Mental and Emotional Health

Studies show chronic stress negatively impacts the gut and therefore mood

The gut may hold the key to better overall health and is responsible for more than just digestion and absorption, according to latest research*.

Researchers at the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACN) have uncovered strong scientific support to show there is indeed a link between our gut—known as the second brain—and our mood.
 

"Current state-of-the-art research points to the link between the gut microbiota and mood and anxiety models, as well as the potential for psychiatric medications to directly affect the gut microbiome," says researcher Dr. Vicki Ellingrod.

Studies show the human microbiome** (essential microorganisms that are present in all human bodies) plays a significant role in keeping the gut healthy, which in turn, studies are finding, directly affects our physical, mental and emotional health.
