New Zealand Talent Throughout Oxbridge Women's Crews For The 2017 Cancer Research UK Boat Races

Tuesday 14 th March saw the announcement of the official crews for The 2017 Cancer Research UK Boat Race and The 2017 Cancer Research UK Women’s Boat Race in central London, with three athletes from New Zealand set to take to the tideway for the Women’s contest.

Cambridge Boat Club has selected two talented Kiwis, in Anna Dawson and Alice White. Born in Christchurch, Dawson is reading for an MPhil in Education and, as a former Pac-12 Female Athlete of the Year, Cambridge will be looking to her to help power them to a victory from the 4 seat.

White will join Dawson in the Cambridge engine room, with the first year bringing an international caliber to the 6 seat. The Hamilton born White is also reading for an MPhil, in Basic and Translational Neuroscience, and will be looking to utilise her race experience from Junior and U23 World Rowing Championships.

The Oxford boat will also have a New Zealand connection, with Harriet Austin set to take the 5 seat for race day. Currently reading for an MBA, Austin previously attended Massey University, NZ and has competed at the highest level including two Elite World Rowing Championships and in the 2008 Olympic Qualification Regatta.

The 2017 Cancer Research UK Boat Races will take place on 2 nd April. The Cancer Research UK Women’s Boat Race will take place at 16.35, followed by The Cancer Research UK Boat Race at 17.35.
