Every now and then, some time away can give you the perspective you need to remind you what’s important.

I made this song for the pure love and the joy that it brought.

‘Starlight’ is a true reflection of where I am at in my life at the moment - making music that truly makes me happy and falling in love with it again.

Falling in love is such a magical feeling and I have tried my best to represent that in the words and music of this song.

This is the world that my music career started in and it feels incredible to be releasing music that shows a new side of me.

The song came so naturally and I really hope it makes people feel good, uplifted and free” - EMELI SANDE

After premiering last night with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, Emeli has today released her new single ‘Starlight’ via Virgin EMI Records.

Taken from a new EP, Kingdom Coming which will be released 3rd November this year, Emeli is due to head out on her UK arena tour in October, which will see her play her biggest headline shows to date, - including a night in the capital at The O2 Arena.

A lot has happened to Emeli in the five years since the resounding success of her critically acclaimed number one record, Our Version Of Events. Not only was it the biggest selling album of 2012 and second biggest selling album of 2013, but it was also certified 7x platinum, spent seven non-consecutive weeks at No.1 and exceeded The Beatles' previous record by spending 63 consecutive weeks in the top 10, selling over 4.6 million copies worldwide.

Following on from the huge success of the first album, Emeli released her second studio album, Long Live The Angels which became the biggest selling album from a UK female released in 2016.  Emeli went on to win ‘Best Female’ at the 2017 BRIT Awards, becoming her fourth BRIT Award win to date. She was also appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours for her services to music.

The multi-instrumentalist initially made her mark as a songwriter in the UK urban scene via acts such as Wiley, Wretch 32 and Chip, later becoming a highly sought-after writer for a wide array of international acts including Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Katy Perry.
