Beef and Lamb New Zealand has confirmed another addition to its Iron Maidens team - BMXer, Sarah Walker.

The announcement was made at the organisation’s 21st birthday celebration last Thursday evening, attended by current Iron Maidens, Sarah Ulmer, Caroline Evers-Swindell and Georgina Evers-Swindell.

Chief Executive Officer of Beef and Lamb New Zealand, Rod Slater, says Sarah is a fantastic role model for Beef and Lamb and Generation Y and a definite medal prospect for the 2012 Olympic Games.

“We were delighted she was so keen to join us and even more thrilled to learn she is not afraid to take herself out of her comfort zone even if it does mean doing the Red Meat Boogie for national television!”

“All our Iron Maidens exude all the qualities and attributes we want to promote alongside our products – health, vitality, strength. Caroline and Georgina winning back to back medals surely rates as the most convincing anti-vegetarian message of all time!”

Mr. Slater says Beef and Lamb’s sporting partnerships over the past ten years have paid dividends ‘beyond our wildest dreams’.

Sarah Walker started BMXing in 1999 following the footsteps of her brother. She demonstrated enormous talent by winning her first ever nationals and has not slowed since. She became World Champion in Canada earlier this year, where she dominated the competition and nailed every jump to provide a very convincing win.

She also represented New Zealand at the Beijing Olympics, in the first time her sport was at the games. She had great heat races and got a respectable 4th in the final after an eventful race.
