It is with much regret that USM EVENTS advises the tenure of the Dextro Energy Triathlon Sydney has come to an end, after the principal funding body, the NSW Government have not taken the option to extend the agreement.

Despite the best efforts of all parties involved, the International Triathlon Union and Triathlon Australia were unable to convince the government that the Sydney event would be able to meet their objectives, and economic impact they required for their substantial investment.

Following a thorough review of the event over the past three years, it was concluded, not to be sustainable to conduct a triathlon in the CBD, due to the logistical complexities, impact on the city and ongoing financial investment required.

USM EVENTS would like to thank the NSW Government through Destination NSW for their investment over the past three years to showcase our sport in the heart of Sydney.

For everyone that had the chance to experience this unique opportunity, we trust you will relish the memories of competing over one of the world’s most spectacular courses.

USM EVENTS can now confirm that the following events in our portfolio will be qualifying races towards selection for the 2013 ITU Age Group World Championship teams.

Long Distance
21 October IRONMAN 70.3 Mandurah

Olympic Distance
10 February Geelong Multisport Festival
17 March Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival
