AMSTERDAM (Netherlands) - With more bicycles than inhabitants, Amsterdam is the bike capital
of the world. On Saturday, June 8th, the world’s 16 best BMX Freestyle riders will show what
they’re capable of on two wheels during Red Bull Framed Reactions at Amsterdam’s
Westergasfabriek.

These riders will take up the challenge of demonstrating their skills in an unfamiliar environment. “I have huge expectations. The event will write history in BMX” says German sports director Andy Zeiss. “Mastermind Nate Wessel designed a park with moving elements, something which has never been done before in BMX.” Which rider uses the moving elements best and convinces the judges and the audience with mind blowing tricks? Admission to the event is free of charge.

One of the 16 world class riders is Daniel Wedemeijer, a BMX rider from Amsterdam: “It’s very
exciting to see such a big Red Bull event coming to Amsterdam. Being asked to take part is very special
for me personally. This is going to be big, different and impressive.” The 16 BMX Freestyle riders need
to convince the judges in two runs of 90 seconds. The 8 riders with the highest scores will advance to the final, in which they should convince the judges again in two 90 seconds runs.

The BMX Park at the Westergasfabriek is being designed by X-Games ramp builder Nate Wessel, who
has designed some of the world’s most impressive BMX parks. These include the BMX ‘Super Park’ in
Red Bull athlete Travis Pastrana’s back yard. The new park, which is being specially designed for Red
Bull Framed Reactions, includes moving elements which respond to rider’s movements, setting off a
chain reaction.

Red Bull Framed Reactions is part of “Amsterdam 2013”. This year, Amsterdam is celebrating 400 years
of canals, the opening of its Rijksmuseum, 125 years of the Concertgebouw orchestra, 175 years of Artis Zoo and more. However, not all the celebrations are focusing on these well-established names. For many smaller organizations, this festive year is an opportunity to demonstrate that Amsterdam, with its long history, is a modern, lively and sporting city, where there’s more to do than many people realize.
This has resulted in a large number of activities from a wide range of organizations, companies and
industries.
