Katy Perry Gears Up To Release New Album, PRISM.

Superstar recording artist Katy Perry is gearing up to release the highly anticipated follow-up to her breakthrough 2010 release, Teenage Dream. Katy’s fourth studio album, Prism, is due for release on October 22nd and will feature the brand new single ‘Roar’, which premiered online yesterday.

Never a fan of subtlety, Katy announced the title and release date of her new album via a giant gold truck which appeared in Los Angeles last week. The truck continues to travel across the U.S.A, hitting key landmarks and will eventually make its way to New York City. Katy encouraged fans to take pictures of the truck in their city and upload them to Twitter, where she would reward fans with a retweet to her 40.5 million Twitter followers. Last week Katy also posted a series of four teaser vignettes, depicting Perry burning and burying her old “California Gurls persona” and reinventing herself.  View the vignettes below.

2010’s Teenage Dream established Katy Perry as one of the biggest pop stars on the planet and became one of the most successful pop albums of the last decade. In the U.S, it spawned five #1 singles, equalling Michael Jackson 1987 release Bad for having the most #1 singles on a single album. Perry topped the U.S Charts with tracks ‘California Gurls’, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘E.T‘, ‘Firework’ and ‘Last Friday Night’. The re-release of Teenage Dream - The Complete Confection went on to spawn another two U.S #1 hits with ‘Wide Awake’ and ‘Part Of Me’. In New Zealand Teenage Dream is certified 3xPlatinum.
