New Zealand has won their third medal at the UCI World Track Cycling Championships at Pruszkow, Poland today (NZ time).

They won a bronze medal in the men’s 4000m team pursuit, beating off Olympic and world champions Great Britain in the ride-off.

The combination of Jesse Sergent, Marc Ryan, Wes Gough and Peter Latham beat the British combination by more than a second.

Denmark and Australia are currently competing in the gold medal ride.

This makes the BikeNZ team the most successful at a world track championships, with two days of the competition still remaining.

Earlier Invercargill’s Eddie Dawkins finished a creditable 10th in Kilometre Time Trial and Tinwald’s Lauren Ellis was an impressive 11th in the women’s 10km scratch race.
