Kiwis are enjoying their beef and lamb more than ever according to the latest market research* results.

A nationwide survey has revealed beef and lamb consumption has increased significantly to 3.6 meals per week, from 3.1 last year.

While Kiwis are eating beef and lamb more often, they are still choosing amounts well within national nutrition guidelines, with the majority of New Zealanders putting the recommended ‘deck of cards’-sized steak on their plate.

The research also confirmed beef and lamb is recognised as the best source of easily-used iron for adults, babies and toddlers, an important health-promoting message central to Beef and Lamb New Zealand’s iron campaigns during the last 10 years.

When asked about the meat industry’s environmental responsibility, most respondents thought the New Zealand meat industry lead the world in efforts to improve sustainable practices.

Rod Slater, CEO of Beef + Lamb New Zealand says, “These results reinforce our long standing message that beef and lamb are not only versatile and delicious to eat, but can be enjoyed 3-4 times per week as part of a healthy, balanced diet.”
