Taranaki swimmer Charlotte Webby broke her own national record in a strong showing at the FINA World Cup meets in Singapore and Tokyo over the past week. The Bell Block teenager was third in the final in the 200m butterfly in Singapore in 2:10.58, just 1/100th of a second outside her New Zealand short course record. She lowered this with her first sub-2:10 effort in the heats in Tokyo this week, clocking 2:09.97 to break the national record and earn her first 800 FINA point performance at the event. She was marginally slower in finishing sixth in the final in 2:10.;13, also under her old record to complete an invaluable international outing.
