Day 1. Twin Lakes Marathon – Hawea/Wanaka

Day one at Hawea was a hot and challenging. 42.2 KM’s of undulating and exposed trails required full attention and focus to reach the 7in7 goal today. 5:15 later the support runners and Mal crossed to a warm and welcoming Wanaka crowd. Some runners ran the full in under 4 hours, while many spent more than 6 hours on their feet. What a fantastic event and effort!

 

Once finished…Mal could not get into the lake quick enough! Day two preperation for Young – Wilkin circuit is underway as we orgnaise food, location and runners. We hit the road shortly to Makarora for tomorrows challenge!

Thanks again to everyone who helped today, the supporters and of course runners. The Twin Lakes marathon (and auction) has generated donations of more than $40,000 for 7in7! Fantastic work!
