New Zealand’s only top 100 ranked tennis player Marina Erakovic has signed on as an Air Tahiti Nui ambassador as she prepares to take on the world’s best in Europe and the UK.

Currently ranked 58 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour, the 26-year-old has been as high as 39th and has posted wins over the likes of former world number one Victoria Azarenka and Australian Open runner up Dominika Cibulkova.

After winning her first career WTA title in Memphis and reaching the third round of Wimbledon and the French Open last year, Marina said she hoped to go even further in her upcoming Grand Slam campaigns.
“I am very happy to be joining the Air Tahiti Nui team and am so grateful for the airline’s support during this exciting time in my career,” Marina said.

General Manager of Air Tahiti Nui New Zealand Mark Hutchinson said the airline was proud to be partnering with such a talented athlete who was competing at the highest level of a gruelling individual sport.

“Marina is the epitome of a Kiwi fighter and we are so thrilled to be helping her take on the world. We wish her every success as she heads into the upcoming European and US campaigns and hope to see her achieve all her goals at the French Open and Wimbledon,” Mr Hutchinson said.

Marina joins Kiwi surfer Ella Williams in the airline’s growing ranks of inspiring sporting role models, which also includes Tahitian surfer Michel Bourez who has moved to number four in the world after taking out the Billabong Rio Pro earlier this month and the Margaret River Pro in April.

Air Tahiti Nui operates a three weekly service from Auckland to Paris via Papeete and Los Angeles.
