Stage Fifteen:  Kristoff makes it two on a cruel outcome for Kiwi rider Jack Bauer

Kiwi Jack Bauer in a valiant effort just about became the first New Zealander to win a stage of the Tour de France.  Bauer and Swiss champion Martin Elmiger broke away right from the start, with Bauer making the break for the finish, but only to be pipped in the final 50 metres by the peleton. On his day Bauer commented "It's a childhood dream to try and win a stage of the Tour especially as a Kiwi because not many of us ever get the chance. I really gave it absolutely everything," ...."I hadn't planned on it being a two man move because 222kms with just two of you in the breakaway is a pretty big day."

Kiwi Greg Henderson who left the tour with injury last week summed it up in a tweet.  "Arrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Jack!!!!! Poor Jack. Oh Jack. Im Bleeding for you. Amazing ride."

Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) claimed his second stage win on the Tour de France stage 15 finishing in Nîmes after the two courageous breakaway riders were caught in a thrilling sprint.
