Designer beds fetch more than $17,000 for Breast Cancer Month

Bidding is over and the hammers have fallen and the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF) is $17,961 better off thanks to bed manufacturer Sealy and four leading local designers.
As part of Breast Cancer Month in October, Sealy partnered with the designers to create four unique Sealy Posturepedic Exquisite Beds. It’s the second consecutive year that Sealy has raised money for NZBCF.
The beds designed by Denise L’Estrange-Corbet, LeeAnn Yare, Juliette Hogan and ASKEW ONE were auctioned on Trade Me with the entire proceeds going to NZBCF.
Sealy Marketing Manager Jenni Gaze says the campaign was a unique and interesting way to raise money for a good cause.
“We’re thankful and extremely grateful to those who bid on this year’s auctions, which helped raise a considerable amount of money,” says Ms. Gaze.
“It was very exciting - bids were sitting at between $2000 and $3000 but a last-minute bidding war pushed the closing price for each bed to more than $4,000 — the highest, by LeeAnn Yare, reached $4,610.”
