Irish comedy megastar Brendan O’Carroll – alias Agnes Brown – of the smash hit television series Mrs. Brown’s Boys is packing up the whole family and bringing the live stage show to New Zealand.

Following 48 sold out arena performances of Mrs. Brown Rides Again during their 2014 Australian national tour, Brendan O’Carroll alias Agnes Brown and the cast of Mrs. Brown’s Boys have announced that they will return to Australia for another national tour from January 2016 and are extending the tour to include Auckland and Christchurch.

Good Mourning Mrs Brown will play at Christchurch’s Horncastle Arena on Saturday 16 March 2016 and at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Saturday 23 March 2016. Special pre-sales begin on Tuesday 11 November with tickets on sale to the general public on Tuesday 18 November.

After announcing in July that the show would be coming to New Zealand, more than 20,000 New Zealanders have signed up for a waitlist for tickets to Good Mourning Mrs. Brown and tickets are expected to be in hot demand.

The 2014 Australian tour set records in many of the venues it played selling out shows in minutes and playing to more than 265,000 adoring fans.

Mammy is bringing the family back down under. After being named the biggest selling comedy show ever in Australia, why wouldn’t she?

Thousands of New Zealanders crossed the Tasman to see the show during the 2014 tour and after meeting so many New Zealanders, Brendan O’Carroll decided he would tour to New Zealand in 2016.

“Australia was feckin amazing, who knew we would enjoy the experience of being down under so much! When over a quarter of a million Australians came to see us we thought ‘that’s nice, we will have to come back again’.

“And you know there are a lot of places I haven’t been, and I’m dying to see, and people said I should go to New Zealand … so I’m going to New Zealand.”

The Mrs. Brown phenomenon has clocked up millions of DVD sales worldwide with the show picking up multiple UK television awards including Scottish, Irish and British BAFTAS and People’s Choice awards. In New Zealand more than 500,000 people watch each amazing episode of Mrs. Brown’s Boys on TV One.

The show has been a huge hit both on stage and on TV.  In the UK the TV series regularly captures eight million viewers per episode. The double episode Christmas special kicked off the launch of series three with a record 15.3 million UK viewers.

Good Mourning Mrs. Brown starring Mrs. Brown is one of five plays by Brendan O’Carroll. The audience will relive some of their favourite moments from the hit TV series and more live on stage.

Good Mourning Mrs. Brown finds the Brown family trying to tackle the wake and funeral of Granddad Brown. There is just one problem. Granddad Brown is not dead!  Dermot and his now pregnant wife Maria are living with Mrs. Brown, much to Maria’s dismay – and the pressure from her to get a place of their own has Dermot contemplating giving up his career in “Promotions” and returning to his life of crime with his old partner Buster Brady. Cathy Brown interrupts her new romance, to give partnership counselling to Rory and Dino who are having problems. Father Quinn is beginning to doubt his vocation. What he needs is a sign – with the help of Agnes Brown he might have to settle for a miracle.
