The Creators: Melbourne Symphony Orchestra collaborates with Melbourne's best chefs

In March 2015, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with two of Australia’s most exciting and influential chefs, Dan Hunter of Brae and Andrew McConnell from Cutler & Co. The event, titled The Creators, will be a part of the 2015 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s quintessentially Melbourne program.

The Creators will see the two chefs create exclusive menus for their restaurants inspired by a musical collaboration with musicians from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, who in turn will perform at the events.

MSO Violinist, Roger Young said the event will provide guests with an understanding of the bond between food and music.

“The connection between musician and chef goes further than the late nights we work, the reviews and the public performance. The art we create is always healthy for the soul,” said Mr Young.

The two events will see an exclusive degustation of music, food and wine. From andante to al dente, guests will enjoy an unforgettable performance by the Creators: the chef and the musicians.

Andrew McConnell said he was looking forward to working with the musicians.

“Cooking is about rhythm, time and passion, and the collaboration with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will add a new element to my food. It could be spice, sweetness or even heat. Whatever that flavour is, it certainly will be a magical evening,” said Mr McConnell.

In preparation for each event, the chefs and musicians will work together over the coming months to devise the musical menus.

Dan Hunter said: “Being a guest at Brae is not just about what you eat but how you feel and how you engage with the experience as a whole. I’m so excited to be incorporating the extraordinary sounds of the MSO into the menu for this one special event.”

Tickets to The Creators are available from 9am on Friday 21 November through the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
