Scorching Triathlon on the 'must do before turning 40' list

The second event in the Scorching Triathlon series will be held this weekend Sunday 7th of December at Scorching Bay (Wellington).  250 participants of all abilities are expected.
Annalie Brown (40) of Island Bay entered her very first Scorching Triathlon last month.  “I really enjoyed it. I never thought I'd ever do a triathlon so I felt a real sense of achievement at the end”.

Brown had the Scorching Triathlon on her ‘must do’ list before turning forty “I only recently decided to give triathlon a go.  My 40th birthday was fast approaching and I decided I wanted to do a triathlon before the decade ticked over. The Scorching Triathlon happened to be the event ahead of my birthday. It also helped that it was local.  It was a great way to challenge myself, amongst great people”.

Daryl Bloomfield, Race Director, said “Since 2003 we’ve had over 15,000 Wellingtonian’s take part in one of our events – partly because of the wide range of event distances and types available including a non-swimming option - there is something for most people.”

“Our main focus is to encourage people to participate at whatever level they are comfortable.  And while we do attract some experienced athletes our focus isn’t on who comes first, instead it’s on supporting everyone across the finish line” – Daryl Bloomfield said.

This Sunday’s event will be one of two events this month to be held at Scorching Bay prior to Christmas. The next event will be held on Sunday 21 December and will offer a new format.
Locals are asked to look out and support the triathletes on the roads surrounding Scorching Bay this Sunday. The remaining dates for the 2014/2015 Scorching Triathlon series are:
