South Africa in the Springtime is a special time of year.  A trip in early October is at the end of the dry season, which means that game viewing in places like the Kruger National Park is very good, especially as dam and river water levels are generally low and animals are attracted to these areas.

The first rains of the season may start towards the end of October as the weather heats up in November.  Many animals are born in November, most notably the impala lambs, which are beautiful but susceptible to predators.

According to Cheapflights travel expert Ben Rosier, October and November are a good time to visit to capture both the safari experience and bird watching.

“Game viewing is best in the drier months but as the rains start to fall and water-holes fill the most beautiful birds appear,” said Ben.

“South Africa is a beautiful country to explore, not only for the Safari experience on the savannahs, but also for the diversity and culture on offer in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town; as well as for the abundance of outdoor adventure activities on offer.”
