Whether you’re an enthusiast photographer or just starting out, Canon New Zealand has revealed how changing your lens can produce magical results and take your photography to a new level.

Canon Consumer Marketing Manager Rochelle Mora says as part of Canon’s campaign Change your lens change your story, professional photographer Graeme Murray and snowboarder and entry level photographer Leon Thomason accepted the challenge to demonstrate how different lenses can capture the same scene in a different way.

“We sent Graeme and Leon to two picturesque locations, the North King Country Motorcycle Club race track and Castle Rock, and we captured their experience in a short film.

“The film, which can be viewed on our website, brings to life the different stories that different lenses can tell - from a landscape lens to a sports lens, and from a macro lens to a portrait lens,” she says.

A highlight of the film is seeing ex world champion motor cross rider, Ben Townley, racing around the club’s track at high speed with all the action captured on an EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM sports lens and an EF-S 10-18mm STM landscape lens. While the landscape lens captures the detail of the landscape and the rider, the sports lens captures the rider and the drama for a completely different look.

Talented rock climber Maria Martinus, is photographed climbing the face of Castle Rock with Canon’s portrait and macro lenses. An EF-S 60mm macro lens captures the finest details in Maria’s hands down to the minute speckles of chalk dust; while an EF 50mm f/1.4 portrait lens is perfect for capturing Maria climbing as well as the spectacular surroundings.

“Changing a lens is such an affordable way for any photographer to discover further inspiration and become more creative with their photography.

“At Canon we want to inspire people to achieve more than they thought they could with their cameras and lenses, and this campaign aims to showcase the accessories that are available as part of the EOS system and demonstrate the incredible results that are possible.”

For any photographers needing further inspiration, there is a competition to win part of an incredible Canon prize package, with the ultimate winner getting a day shooting with Graham Murray as well as $2000 to spend on lenses. The competition closes on 2 August 2015*.
