There’s no denying, most Kiwis certainly have a soft spot for the trusty old burger teamed together with deliciously sweet slices of beetroot, which is why Bean Supreme is pretty excited to announce the brand new arrival of its vegetarian Black Bean Beetroot Burger.

Made from wholefoods such as yummy beetroot, black beans and ancient grains (quinoa and buckwheat), the faithful old burger has had a bit of a facelift, making it a deliciously different protein and fibre source that will keep you full and satisfied.

Perfect to grill on the barbeque at the weekend or for an ideal mid-week meal, the Black Bean Beetroot Burger is quick and easy to make and tastes especially great with the recipe below:

Beet burger

Bean Supreme & Haloumi burgers
Makes 2 – 4 serves / prep time 10 mins / cooking time 15 mins

- 300g pack of Bean Supreme Black Bean Beetroot Burger
- 200g block of haloumi cheese, sliced horizontally
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 4 x Soft burger buns
- 2 x handfuls of rocket leaves, washed
- 4 x Tbsp flavoured mayonnaise, such as Urban Chef Sticky Chilli

1. Heat pack of Black Bean Beetroot Burgers as per on pack instructions.
2. In a fry pan over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Pat down the sliced haloumi with a paper towel to dry off any moisture, then gently place in the pan. Fry until outside turns crispy and golden brown. Turnover and fry other side. Place to one side.
3. Slice burger buns in half and spread some mayonnaise on the base, and on the inside of the top. Layer up with rocket, then haloumi and finishing with the Beetroot burger. Place the top on and enjoy!
