Queenstown’s premier boutique hotel, Hotel St Moritz has taken the ritual of daily ablutions to the next level with the launch of its stunning new bathrooms and Molton Brown amenities.

The five-star hotel recruited interior designer Stewart Harris of MacIntosh Harris to direct the design of the new bathrooms, resulting in a strikingly elegant black and white concept.

The design retains the hotel’s boutique look and feel, but incorporates some residential touches to add warmth and character to the overall ambience.

Elements of marble and chrome are featured against a full height mosaic wall, introducing a hint of European ‘chalet feel’, synonymous with the hotel’s character.

Acting general manager Jo Finnigan said she’s “delighted” with the finished product and looks forward to receiving feedback.

“It’s a timeless design which complements all other aspects of our rooms yet adds another degree of sophistication” she said.

“Stewart has been our interior designer since the get-go and truly understands St Moritz’s spirit in order to produce such perfect bathroom designs.

“St Moritz celebrated its 17th birthday last week and what better way to mark the occasion than by unveiling these stunning new bathrooms, enhancing our commitment to always raising the standards of our guest experience.”

The upgrade includes the hotel’s 72 suites, which have all had an oversize luxury bath and walk-in shower installed. The remaining guest rooms all now boast a spacious new walk-in shower.

In celebration of these magnificent new bathrooms, the hotel has also moved to the luxury bath and body ‘Gingerlilly’ range by Molton Brown, London’s bath and body connoisseurs since 1973. Blended in England with the finest ingredients from around the world, the iconic range of shower gels, hand washes and lotions are beloved around the world.

Hotel St Moritz is New Zealand’s only ‘M Gallery’ property, a collection of memorable high-end hotels that form part of the Accorhotels group.

Accorhotels’ ‘Planet 21’ initiative is a sustainable development programme to help support efficient practices across all 3,500 hotels and make a difference to the world.

Part of the initiative is ‘Plant the Plant’ which encourages guests to re-use their bathroom towels and save water, energy and detergent, reducing costs by up to 15 per cent. The savings are reinvested to help fund reforestation projects. Since 2009, over 3.5 million trees have been planted in 21 countries around the world – amounting to 2,000 trees a day.
