Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon Peter Dunne, is putting on his gumboots and high-vis vest for a hard hat tour of Wero Whitewater Park at 1pm on August 20, 2015.

Mr Dunne is the presiding member of the Lottery Grants Board.

The Lotteries Significant Projects Committee recently allocated $2.5 million to this unique project, located at Manukau.

He will join the chair of Counties Manukau Pacific Trust, Sir Noel Robinson and the trust CEO, Richard Jeffery.

Wero Whitewater Park is currently under construction beside Vodafone Events Centre and is due to open in April, 2016.

The sports and outdoor education facility will be used by school students, community and business teams, as well as athletes.

When the water flows, white water rafting and kayaking will be accessible in Auckland to enhance the life skills of people from all walks of life as well as attracting international tourists.

The park is already booked for the World Masters Games being held in Auckland in 2017.

The Lottery Grants Board also allocated $750,000 for the new conference centre that adds to the diverse mix of facilities surrounding Vodafone Events Centre.
