Crowne Plaza Auckland launches 'must-have' news app

Crowne Plaza Auckland is helping guests stay in touch with local and world news with the introduction of an innovative news app.

The award-winning city centre property is continuing its commitment to online innovation and service with the introduction of PressReader, a free application which enables users to download their preferred newspaper or magazine onto their smart device.

Described as the ‘must have’ ultimate news app it enables guests to access their personal news feed, plus unlocks full access to over 2,000 full content and ‘current-day’ newspapers and magazines just as they appear in print worldwide.

“It’s the most advanced and environment-friendly way for guests to stay uploaded with the world while they’re staying with us,” said Franck Hesse, New Zealand area director of sales and marketing.
“We’re proud to provide guests with an award-winning and eco-friendly service such as PressReader, which means more news for guests and less paper usage by the hotel.

“We’re always looking for ways to manage our impact on the environment and PressReader is the perfect way to do this while offering guests a more comprehensive news service than ever before.”
Parent company IHG uses an advanced online tool to help its more than 4,500 hotels improve environmental performance and reduce costs.

Green Engage is an innovative sustainability effort which helps track the day-to-day environmental impact of participating hotels and provides recommended actions to improve energy conservation and carbon footprint and reduce that impact.

IHG New Zealand already leads the way in customer engagement and social media innovation in Australasia with its use of Shuttlerock, The hotel group uses the platform to share customer pictures, videos and comments uploaded to social media such as twitter, tumblr, facebook and Instagram. This technology is in place in at Crowne Plaza Auckland as well as Queenstown and Rotorua.
