Superheroes of popular culture will descend on Hamilton Central Library next week to celebrate Comic Book Month.

Hamilton City Libraries marks the popularity of comic book characters and superheroes every year during Comic Book Month, which this year includes a quiz and "cosplay" (costume play) night on Friday 18 September at the Hamilton Central Library in Garden Place .

Participants are encouraged to form quiz teams with four to six members, and come dressed as their favourite superheroes for the cosplay parade. Quiz topics will include comic books, pop culture and science fiction, with the winners of the quiz receiving tickets to popular culture expo Armageddon 2015.
Children's and Teens Librarian Aaron Martin says comic book characters and superheroes are as popular as ever, and not just with younger people.

"Superheroes are now intergenerational: some of the famous superheroes have stood the test of time in popular culture and literature, and we see parents enjoying superhero stories with their children," Mr Martin says.

People keen to participate in the quiz can register at the Hamilton City Libraries website – www.hamiltonlibraries.co.nz
