In response to tremendous feedback from the sports community in early product testing, Revvies Energy Strips – the category-innovator in caffeinated mouth strips – is devoting focused attention and resources to the triathlon and endurance sports markets. The company’s investment in sport includes event sampling, professional athlete sponsorship, increased retail presence and quality assurance accreditation through Informed-Sport.

Revvies was recently sampled for the first time at two large scale endurance sporting events, the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival and the Challenge Forster Triathlon Festival, receiving rave reviews from athletes eager to “Recharge Smarter” with Revvies’ fast, convenient and sugar-free caffeine delivery system. Lightweight and portable, each great-tasting Revvies mouth strip contains 40mg of caffeine and just a single calorie. Designed to be taken before and during exercise, Revvies dissolves quickly on the tongue without the need for added fluid – ideal for an energy boost during the heat of competition.

Professional triathlete and nutrition expert Pip Taylor, a Revvies ambassador and a vital member of the brand’s product development team, explains how caffeine use in conjunction with exercise is a proven method to improve performance.

“Caffeine boosts physical performance and mental alertness,” says Taylor. “The primary way this occurs is through actions on the Central Nervous System. Caffeine crosses the blood brain barrier and leads to increased alertness and awareness as well as elevated mood – all positively influencing sports performance. In addition, caffeine can lower perceived pain during training intervals and racing and can even increase muscle contractile force via stimulating the connections between brain and muscle.”

“Caffeine also interacts with every cell within the body and influences processes including energy production, hormone release, mobilization of fatty acids and dilation of blood vessels,” continues Taylor. “The upshot of all of this is that caffeine has been shown to consistently allow athletes to exercise harder for longer and feel less pain doing so. Some research even shows that caffeine can aid in the recovery process by improving blood flow and speeding the delivery and uptake of nutrients. For skills based sports or ones that require tactical thinking, caffeine boosts ability for quick decision making and concentration.”

Adding to the product’s appeal to athletes, Revvies is only the second Australian company and the first in New Zealand to achieve accreditation through the Informed-Sport quality assurance program. This groundbreaking status ensures that every batch of Revvies is tested for WADA banned substances prior to reaching consumers. The company took this critical step under advisement from Taylor, who understands first-hand the importance of Informed-Sport approval to elite athletes.

Taylor’s experience using Revvies as she balances a full family schedule and multi-pronged career as a nutritionist, author and professional athlete serves as a helpful example to multi-tasking age group athletes juggling the numerous demands in their own lives while striving to maintain a competitive edge.

“For me, Revvies Energy Strips are ideal in both training and race scenarios. I like to control the amount of caffeine I use and the strips allow this very easily,” says Taylor. “They are also convenient, as for me, minutes and even seconds are precious in each day! With two kids, work and training I don’t have any spare time. Revvies allow me to literally get a caffeine boost on the run immediately before or during a key workout or race. With limited time I need to get the most out of every workout I do, and targeted use of caffeine allows me to meet specific training goals and maintain focus throughout.”

Alongside Taylor on the Revvies professional athlete roster, Australian Olympic middle distance runner Eloise Wellings recently joined the brand as an ambassador after trialing the product in training and racing. Wellings, who won the Noosa Bolt 5k during the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival, referred to Revvies as “light little wonder strips…they do what they say they do! Fast, convenient, caffeinated, energy.” Wellings will continue to use Revvies as she prepares for her 2016 Olympic bid in Rio, having qualified in the 5,000-meter and aiming to do the same in the 10,000-meter track and field events.

“We’re proud to have athletes of the caliber of Pip and Eloise on board in support of the Revvies brand, and to make bold headway in engaging with the endurance-loving public at events such as Noosa and Forster,” said John Nolan-Neylan, Revvies Energy Strips Co-founder. “Revvies has a direct and immediate effect on an athlete’s focus and alertness, and thus can have a significant positive impact on performance. And further, with accreditation through Informed-Sport we’re able to offer the assurance of a clean, quality energy boost – a boost that enhances performance naturally, with great taste, speedy uptake and zero sugar.”

Now available in over 150 stores in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK, and online at revviesenergy.com, Revvies anticipates continued strong growth as the brand delves ever-deeper into the endurance sports realm and continues to serve its expanding customer base of individuals looking for quick, convenient and healthier energy to help them tackle sport, study or simply the day-to-day demands of life.
