Hawker-style Night Noodle Market hits the capital this June

The iconic Night Noodle Market is making its way up New Zealand, taking over Wellington’s waterfront this June.
 
Following its colossal success in Christchurch, the hawker-style market will showcase authentic Asian cuisine for five nights – rain, hail or shine!
 
With 15 local and international food stalls on offer, including renowned Melbourne-based Hoy Pinoy, Wellingtonians can taste their way around the Asian continent.
 
James Meehan, the chef behind Hoy Pinoy, will introduce locals to his signature Filipino barbecue skewers. There are two flavours available – chicken and pork belly – both served with rice and achara (pickled papaya).
 
Resident Wellington eateries including Dumpling’d, NAM D and Monsoon Poon will have their favourite dishes on offer, tantalising the taste buds of all market-goers.
 
Monsoon Poon co-owner, Mike Egan, says it’s really encouraging to see the Night Noodle Markets heading to Wellington where there is already a strong food scene ready to embrace it.
 
“It’s a no-brainer. Even in the middle of winter, Wellingtonians will put on their puffer jacket and head down to sample what’s on offer.
 
“At Monsoon Poon, we’re really excited to take care of our regulars as well as introduce ourselves to new customers. One of the dishes we’ll be serving is a South East Asian shrimp taco in a roti with smoked chili sauce, avocado and coriander.”
 
The Night Noodle Market – a Fairfax initiative – has taken Australia by storm since its inception in 1998 as part of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Month. The market is now an annual event in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

Entry to the five day event is free and food ranges from $5.00 to $15.00 – EFTPOS and cash, no tokens required. There are three bars on site.
