Charity story from the slopes

If you were in Queenstown last week, you might have caught wind of the "Origins" exhibition at Frontroom Gallery, hosted by Corona Extra and Manual Magazine. The little soiree was a great excuse for the duo to team up with their favourite photographers Vaughan Brookfield, Johnny McCormack and Tim Pierce and help raise funds for Corona’s charity partner Sustainable Coastlines.

With Coronas in hand, attendees were treated to the works of the three prolific photographers, and as the sun set on a bluebird day, the snow community and Corona dug deep to raise $7,000 for Sustainable Coastlines from the auction of the works.

“We were stoked to see so many people come through the door of Frontroom Gallery, but a special highlight for us was the partnership with Corona’s award-winning charity partner, Sustainable Coastlines” said Sam Crabtree of Manual Magazine.

Funds raised from Origins, along with $12,000 donated by Corona earlier this year, enable Sustainable Coastlines to continue their educational programmes, public awareness campaigns and riparian planting projects. 'It is a huge challenge for us to raise funds to look after the places that Kiwis love,' says Sam Judd, CEO of Sustainable Coastlines, 'we have to be creative with partnerships and events like this - which go a very long way to restoring the epic environment where we work and play,' he says.

Ben Wheeler, Category Marketing Director for Lion, says:  “We’re so lucky to live in a country where we can surf in the summer and hit the mountains in the winter. Corona feel it’s important that we don’t take this idyllic landscape for granted and our work with Sustainable Coastlines helps to protect and nurture New Zealand’s incredible environment, so others can continue to enjoy and appreciate it for years to come.”
