94 per cent of residents think the Hutt is a great place to live

Hutt City Council’s annual survey of residents has shown some very positive results in peoples’ attitudes to the city they live in, and how their Council is delivering. This includes 94 per cent of residents surveyed saying they think Hutt City is a great place to live.

The Hutt City Council Communitrak Survey 2016 results also reaffirm support for the investment Council is making in the rejuvenation of the city. Only 10 per cent of residents are dissatisfied with the way Council spends rates, compared to an average of 29 per cent for equivalent councils.

Mayor Wallace says, “I’m reminded on a daily basis how fortunate I am to live here, and I am thrilled the vast majority of the community seems to share this view. I am also so pleased to have our residents’ continued support for investing in making it an even more vibrant city.

“This is not just a reflection of the performance of Council but also on the wonderful, positive people we have in our communities in Lower Hutt,” he says.

“We have great participation in local democracy here, and people are really involved in their community and telling us what they want to see happen.”

Council Chief Executive Tony Stallinger says he is pleased with the average resident satisfaction of 90 per cent across Council’s services.

“We have a strong focus on our customers and making it easy to do business with us. It is a real boost for our staff that their hard work is recognised.

“Only 3 per cent of residents were not satisfied with staff performance, which compares favourably to the average of 14 per cent dissatisfaction in other city councils.  Nevertheless, we remain focused on identifying any concerns and making improvements.”
