A successful construction Quantity Surveying and Cost Management business has expanded into Christchurch, just six months after launching in Queenstown.

QUBE consultants was launched in Queenstown in April by Registered Quantity Surveyor Mick Moffatt, and is now joined by new Christchurch-based director and Canterbury manager Duncan Underhill.

The rapid business expansion is the result of huge demand for QUBE’s services because of its wide range of experience in all facets of construction. QUBE already services a number of existing clients in Christchurch.

“We’ve already worked on over 60 projects to date covering a wide range of commercial and residential jobs of all sizes,” said Mick.

“Given that we have clients in Christchurch and the opportunity to target even more work in that area, it was an obvious choice for us to open up in the Garden City and be more ‘hands on’.

“Duncan is the ideal choice for the new role as he’s already based in Christchurch where he’s worked over a number of years on multi-million-dollar commercial projects as a Quantity Surveyor within the health, retail, tourism and education sectors.

“He’s skilled in generating new business, project management and budget control, and of course has good, established contacts within the Christchurch construction industry, so we’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”

The new QUBE Christchurch office is based in a mixed business hub in the Riccarton area and officially launches this week.

Duncan said he was “thrilled” with the opportunity to take an established business model to the Christchurch and wider Canterbury region.

“The Christchurch market is still extremely competitive and even though it may have slowed down a little there’s still plenty of new projects on the go,” he said.

“QUBE has a new a growing reputation in Christchurch and throughout the South Island, so it’s an exciting time to join the company and spend the coming months building up our client base and raising awareness of the services we offer.

“Because I’ve already spent some time working in this market, I have a really good understanding of current market rates ensuring all pricing is as accurate as possible.”

Duncan’s strengths also include creating accurate take offs and schedules and tendering. He is an Affiliate member of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors.

Mick has over 25 years’ experience in the local and international construction industry, and is renowned as the expert in friendly, efficient, accurate and professional advice for all residential and commercial projects. QUBE provides feasibility and cost control from concept to final account.

“We have the experience and background knowledge to manage a project from the earliest stages where the most cost savings can be made, to turning the key in the door,” said Mick.
