The Remarkables ski field in Queenstown opened today.
Around 800 people are expected (around 600 when filing this).

“We are rapt with opening day.
“There is a strong local contingent – people have been amped and looking forward to this, so it’s great to see them here welcoming in winter. There are a lot of smiles on faces.”
“The conditions are great today, with it being sunny and fine. We thought we’d only open Curvey Basin Trail and the Learners but Alta has opened as well.
“We had a light dusting of snow overnight, and been snowmaking for 24 hours prior to opening. We will be again tonight.”
“The weather forecast shows Sunday should be settled and fine. There is a front coming in on late on Monday, Tues and into Wednesday so we should be getting another 10-20 cms of natural snow. We will continue to top up with snow making.”
