AUCKLAND, New Zealand - 5 September 2017 - Garmin New Zealand today announced a software update that makes exciting new features available to fēnix 5, 5S, 5X and Forerunner 935 owners. These include customised workout capabilities for strength training and cardio activities, and all-day stress tracking. This software update is being made in conjunction with IFA in Berlin, Germany, September 1-6.
With the improved strength training activity, users can stay focused on their form and let their device handle the rep counting. Strength training keeps track of reps, sets and even rest times during free weight and bodyweight exercises. This data gets pushed to Garmin Connect where it can be reviewed in greater detail. Also being introduced is an improved cardio activity, which allows users to get credit for boot camp classes, high intensity interval training and more. Bored of the same old workout routines? Customers can now create customised cardio and strength workouts on Garmin Connect and download them straight to their device. And for the first time, users will be able to create customised workouts right on their smartphone using the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

For those seeking to live a healthier life, improving one’s emotional wellbeing can be as important as increasing time spent at the gym. All-day stress tracking is available by monitoring HRV (heart rate variability) data. The ability to view both current stress levels at the wrist and a longer timetable of stress on Garmin ConnectTM, allows customers to identify patterns and consider making lifestyle changes to avoid or better cope with stress-inducing situations. A Four-Fold Breath relaxation timer further helps users balance stress and rest.

For decades, Garmin has pioneered new GPS navigation and wireless devices and applications that are designed for people who live an active lifestyle. Garmin serves five primary business units, including automotive, aviation, fitness, marine, and outdoor recreation. For more information, http://www.garmin.co.nz, and facebook.com/garminNZ/.
