The first ever festive season at Kawarau Village will be celebrated in enthusiastic style taking advantage of the special attributes of Queenstown’s newest village location.  Home to five stylish dining and imbibing locations, plenty of outdoor  lounging areas, some of the greatest chefs in the region and two fine hotels, the north facing, absolute lakefront, sundrenched village is preparing for a fabulous month of festivities.

As the weather warms and the days grow longer, pre Christmas dining and festivities heat up in the casual dining spaces of Me & Mee Noodle Bar and Stacks Pub.  At Me & Mee friends and family can enjoy special group banquets indoors or out for $30 per person.  Across the road in Stacks Pub they’re making the most of the summer sun for December with leisurely barbecues on the expansive decks Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings for $25 per person.  The intimate Cru Bar has 12 specially designed Christmas cocktails including Seven Swans A Singing and the intriguing Twelve Drummers Drumming that simply must be tasted.

The office party and other functions promise to be memorable occasions whichever stylish function room or space you decide on.  Water taxi transport is available from town and a series of pre planned menus and themes run the gamut of informal barbeque to sit down dinner or banquet.

Gifts from the Village will be welcome under any tree.  A Kawarau Village food and beverage gift voucher is available from $20 and The Lake Counter has themed gift baskets from $40 joining the ranks of delicious pastries, delicacies, fabulous coffee and deli staples.  Presents from ‘eforea: spa at Hilton’ include gift vouchers and top of the line beauty products while a voucher for a night at Hilton Queenstown or Kawarau Hotel managed by Hilton offer the gift of a luxury retreat in the Village.

The big days of the season will be mainly celebrated at Queenstown’s ultimate lakeside dining destination, Wakatipu Grill where bookings for Christmas Day Lunch, Christmas Day Dinner, Boxing Day Brunch, New Year’s Eve Dinner and New Year’s Day Brunch are now being taken.

In true village style, Kawarau Village has classes for ages 5 – 9 and 10-16 in the lead up to Christmas.  ‘My Little Hilton Cooking Class’ encourages children to channel their inner MasterChef by learning to prepare and create their own festive treats under the guidance of Hilton chefs.  At $55 per child per class, they’re taking place over the weekend 10 and 11 December and promise to keep budding chefs well entertained from 10am til 2pm.  Participants will take away their creations along with a cookbook and a My Little Hilton chef’s hat.

Director of Business Development Mandy Kennedy says the village is enjoying an atmosphere of anticipation as it gears up for Christmas.

“This is our first festive season and we have worked hard to come up with all sorts of ideas, menus, gifts and drinks to celebrate.  We believe that Kawarau Village will provide the most wonderful celebrations for people – the majestic sunny location, the dedication and skill of our people and the glorious spaces available are simply unbeatable.

“We do encourage people to make bookings as soon as they have plans in place – we are well aware of a high demand for key days, particularly Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve at Wakatipu Grill, and also for function dates throughout November and December.”

Ms Kennedy says people could consider making a night of it and book a room at one of the two Village hotels.

“We have superb rates available. People booking three weeks in advance could secure a room in Kawarau Hotel managed by Hilton for as little as $130 for the night*.”
