The 3rd annual Konica Minolta Nelson Cycle Festival – October 2012

The Konica Minolta Nelson Cycle Festival emerged from an idea initiated by Mike Watson to promote both cycling and the Nelson Tasman region in 2008. The event has now into its third year and has had well over 1500 cyclists participating in over 20 events in all riding disciplines right across the Nelson Tasman region.

This year the event will be held throughout October 2012 and once again will encompass a variety of
cycling events catering for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Some of the tried and true and some new
exciting concepts.

The long term vision of Konica Minolta Nelson Cycle Festival is to provide some infrastructure to
support Nelson Tasman in becoming the “heart of cycling” in New Zealand.

The Nelson Cycle Festival is very excited to announce that Konica Minolta will once again support the
event as naming rights sponsor. Konica Minolta are leaders in document solutions for business.

This year the event structure has strengthened with the inclusion of the Nelson Tasman Cycle Trails
Trust promoting Nelson Tasman as the “heart of biking” and Sport Tasman on the Event Committee.

“We saw an opportunity with the Festival to involve children around cycling, so we are filling that
gap with the Crombie Lockwood Kids Wheelie Fun Day, which will give kids the chance to be involved
in a swag of different bike activities. We will be linking with several community organisations to
provide a range of bike based things for the kids to do on the day - it will be heaps of fun for them.”
