Two of NZ’s top athletes have joined the Icebreaker team for this year’s Coast to Coast taking place 8th and 9th February. Last year’s Coast to Coast winners Richard and Elisha Ussher will compete for Icebreaker alongside local and international team members as they race across New Zealand’s South Island in one of the world’s top sporting events, pushing both physical and mental abilities to the limit.

For the fourth consecutive year, Icebreaker will also be the principal clothing sponsor supporting athletes with a range of technical sports garments which have been created with the athlete in mind. With technical features like nanotechnology, free seams and breathable eyelet panels, Icebreaker garments give high performance sports athletes a competitive edge.
Each Coast to Coast competitor will receive an Icebreaker Pace Long Sleeve Crew (women) and Sprint Long Sleeve Crewe (men), to keep them covered as they take part in this gruelling and challenging race. And the best thing about Icebreaker merino is it is highly breathable to prevent the clamminess and overheating often associated with synthetic products.
According to Richard Ussher one of the great things about Icebreaker is the 150gram fabric which is super light and versatile.
“I can go from casual to training and back again with Icebreaker, as it’s Merino I don’t have to worry if I am running out of time to wash it!”
Joining Richard and Elisha Ussher in Team Icebreaker is Luke O’Shea, Braden Currie, David Ayre, Gavin Mason, Hamish Allan, JJ Wilson, Mara Garanzini, Matt Blundell and Tabitha Dickson.
The Coast to Coast starts on Kumara Beach on the West coast of New Zealand’s South Island and finishes on Sumner Beach on the East coast. Icebreaker will have support sites set up at Kumara, Klondyke Corner, North Hagley Park and Sumner.
