Foot blisters are the bane of athletes, particularly distance and trail runners. Its’ one of those injuries that are so common they tend to be discounted.  Although they rarely keep runners sidelined, they do take a physical and mental toll!  Blister occurrence has been investigated in athletes, hikers and in military populations and ranges from 39% to 50%.
Unfortunately, blister management has not progressed significantly in recent decades and blisters remain a familiar injury requiring treatment.
Stopping blisters is all too often a hit and miss affair. Tapes, lubricants, specialised socks ... the results are typically mixed to poor.

Podiatrist Rebecca Rushton suffered with heel blisters herself for many years. “It was embarrassing and frustrating that as a podiatrist, I couldn’t stop these blisters and they prevented me from playing sport pain-free.”
Almost by accident, she stumbled upon a material from the US called ENGO Patches.  After using them successfully for several years, both personally and with her clients, Rebecca decided to bring them to Australia and make them available to fellow blister-sufferers in Australia.  And ENGO has just become available in New Zealand from Justin and the team at Bigfoot Podiatry in Auckland.
ENGO Patches are different to every other blister product in 4 ways:
Difference No.1 – they apply to your shoe / insole ... not your skin
Difference No. 2 – PFTE reduces friction by up to 80% to stop blisters in their tracks
Difference No.3 – they’re extremely thin (0.38mm) so they don’t alter shoe-fit
Difference No.4 – far from a single use product, each patch gives you 500km blister protection – that’s simply unbeatable.
ENGO Blister Prevention Patches can be used in all types of footwear including running shoes, specialist sports shoes and even on orthotics.
