Mountain bike junior squad announced

Mountain Bike New Zealand has named the following junior riders for a short list team for the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in South Africa.

The Under-19 squad includes 12 confirmed riders and four riders still to be confirmed for the championships at Pietermaritzburg on 28 August to 1 September.

The full team will be named next month.

Under-19 team (Confirmed riders):
Cross country: Harriet Beaven (Auckland), Sam Gaze (Cambridge), Amber Johnston (Rotorua), Brad Jones (Whakatane), Ben Oliver (Rangiora), Craig Oliver (Rangiora).
Downhill: Lawrence Cawte (Rotorua), Carl Goodwin (Woodend), Joshua McCombie (Dunedin), Leo Sandler (Nelson), Kyle Lockwood (Counties Manukau), Jamahl Stringer (Wellington).

Riders to be confirmed:
Cross country: Simon Lawson (Porirua).
Downhill: Raphael Kammlein-Cutler (Dunedin), Connor Harvey (Invercargill), Michael Melles (Otaki).
