Barossa Gourmet committee is pleased to announce that the much anticipated food and wine regional event will be going ahead this year during the traditional third weekend in August.

The 2013 Barossa Gourmet Weekend is expected to be as popular as ever with more than 30 participating tourism, wineries and food producers all offering heart-warming food, premium Barossa wine and live entertainment.

“This year’s event has an even stronger food and wine focus than previous years”, said Barossa Gourmet Chair, Nicole Hodgson, “it is testament to their commitment to the region that so many participants are on board.”

The program has expanded to include the Friday night providing the opportunity for a wider range of Barossa business participants plus the chance to showcase a different aspect of the Barossa’s unique wine and culinary culture with degustation dinners and intimate gourmet events.

An Artisans Market showcasing the unique craft and food offerings is planned, as are food and wine matching and cooking classes – a perfect marriage of food/wine.

“This year’s Gourmet Weekend provides an amazing window into the rich food and wine culture of the Barossa.  From big winery celebration days to bespoke, intimate events, Gourmet Weekend offers something to suit all tastes and ages” explains Nicole.

As in previous years, the Barossa welcomes the whole family with many wineries providing activities and menus specifically for children.

A designated driver program and two bus loops are also available and it is recommended to book early into the plethora of accommodation options if you plan to make a weekend of it.

If you’re a wine enthusiast, foodie, family or just looking for a great time with live entertainment you can’t miss your chance to immerse yourself in the flavours of the Barossa. There truly is something for everyone at the 2013 Barossa Gourmet Weekend.
