Day two of the RaboPlus New Zealand Track Championships in Invercargill has gone to plan so far today for the favoured sprinters in action.

As expected overwhelming women’s favourite and current New Zealand champion Natasha Hansen had no trouble qualifying for tonight’s semifinals, easily accounting for Wellington’s Hayley Giddens in their quarter final races.
The Cantabrian will take on Otago’s Honour Davies in the semis, while team-mate Penny Day will be up against West Coast North Island’s Megan Blatchford.
The men’s favourites Simon van Velthooven of Palmerston North and Southland’s Eddie Dawkins also progressed untroubled to the semis.
Van Velthooven will take on Canterbury’s Adam Stewart tonight while Dawkins will have to get past Auckland’s Damien Wiseman for a place in the final.
The RaboPlus New Zealand Track Championships continue through to Saturday night.
