Beautiful Lengths Announces Second Year – and Kiwi Women Are Called On To Donate Their Hair for Charity

Leading haircare brand Pantene has today announced the launch of the second year of Pantene Beautiful Lengths, the first program of its kind in New Zealand to inspire Kiwi women to grow; cut and donate their hair to be turned into real-hair wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment.

The second year of Pantene Beautiful Lengths will launch on September 2 2013, with the return of Pantene’s National Donate Your Hair Week set to take place on November 11 2013, culminating in ponytail donation events taking place across the country with women, men and children all pledging their hair to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths cause.

Since launching in September 2012, Pantene Beautiful Lengths has raised nearly 5,000 ponytails as a result of generous donations from women and men across the country. Pantene has so far distributed 200 real-hair wigs to women undergoing cancer treatment at no cost to the women, with more wigs planned for delivery this year.

Continuing its partnership with Look Good Feel Better, a free service dedicated to teaching cancer patients techniques to help restore their appearance during chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Pantene is once again encouraging women and men to grow, cut and donate their ponytails to be made into real-hair wigs.

Actress Zooey Deschanel is joining forces with fellow Pantene ambassador and leading hairstylist, Barney Martin, to encourage people across the country to skip a trim and grow their hair longer and stronger before donating their ponytails to Beautiful Lengths during National Donate Your Hair Week. 

Zooey Deschanel says “Pantene is helping to provide confidence and beautiful real-hair wigs to women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment; you can’t put a price on that.”

“I know Australia and New Zealand have received 5,000 ponytails so far which will make a huge difference to many women with cancer, and I hope we can surpass that number this year,” she says. 

In support of the program, Pantene has launched the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Collection to help women grow their hair long and strong and skip a trim in order to donate.
