GetRunning To Marlborough
GetRunning announces its 2014 tour to the Marlborough region for the Saint Clair Half Marathon.
GetRunning, Auckland’s leading running coaching and marathon tour specialists, has released its much-anticipated tour package for one of the most indulgent weekends on the GetRunning tour calendar!
The tour has 30 spots available for the Saint Clair Half Marathon, which takes place on May 10 next year, and is perfect for runners who like to treat themselves with a weekend away.
The race is known for its breathtakingly beautiful route, which starts at the historic Saint Clair estate and runs through some of Marlborough’s most celebrated vineyards and alongside the Wairau river.
The May weather is usually cool but clear, making for a memorable run through some of the finest scenery New Zealand has to offer.
Most famously, runners are treated to sauvignon blanc gelato along the course and awarded with a bottle of sparkling wine at the finish line instead of a medal!
The tour departs from Auckland Domestic Airport on May 9 and spans two nights in Blenheim at luxury boutique accommodation, The Vintners’ Hotel.
Gaz Brown, director and coach at GetRunning, has hosted dozens of local and international marathon tours since the company’s inception in 2007, and says that St Clair is always a highlight of the domestic event calendar.
“This will be GetRunning’s fourth visit to Marlborough,” says Gaz. “It always attracts a lively group and is definitely the tour for bon vivants! The weekend takes in visits to incredible vineyards and some amazing gourmet meals – just the way to relax after a scenic run through the grapevines!”
The tour package includes flights, transfers, accommodation, a pre-race dinner, breakfast, race entry, a ticket to the finishing toast party and a vineyard tour and wine-tasting.
“There is plenty of time, even for beginner-level runners, to train for a half marathon in May,” says Gaz. “It’s fantastic as a motivator to train over the Silly Season and through the summer months.”
